EXIT SIGN

Let the fire continue as the smoke remains aloft
Let the ambers glow as mannequins remark
The ashes that are left untilled are blown away with wind
Leave us all when mornings come, the personage again

Times are spent with happen stance, and dreams inside the realm
Nothing changes what has been, with who is at the helm
Guiding past the marble vase the violent storm that builds
Than chasing down the harsh resound, later hear unwilled

Say what must and speak not long, to what is forward bent
Heedless wrangle endless circuits, dilute what noises meant
If there’s a chance beyond romance to liquidate the rage
The book is done and so to some, continue turn the page

Whatever path is taken, whatever roads is cruised
Whenever time has given, if only what was used
All that sanguinely bring, by the sweetness of the wine
Or down the hall, through the squall, to the exit sign

Been asked about this poem and motivation for other work. I mostly give the Bob Dylan answer “what ever you want it to be.” But this one is less “artsy”. I was watching a anthology on Fleetwood Mac. This presents the turmoil of Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham’s relationship and breakup during the making of Rumours album

One of my favourite rhyme schemes, and a lovely rhythm and flow.
    Nicely done!
