BILL OF SALE (VIETNAM WAR MEMORIAL)

Hearts turned to stone black granite names to share
Thousands enshrined... solemn fanfare
Angled tombstones... souls put to rest`
In a timely order, they are finally blessed

Weep calmly now ... relieve your pain
Than tip your half empty glass of ale
Sleep calmly now... knowing their names
Have been…. the bill of sale

I see your face engraved on the wall
My eyes explode as I feel you fall
A memory repressed brought back from the dead
To finally realize the tears that were bleed

Weep calmly now ... relieve your pain
Than tip your half empty glass of ale
Sleep calmly now...knowing their names
Have been...the bill of sale

  1. talebender says:

I’ve always thought it strange that old men honor young men after they’ve died in a faraway war, yet didn’t value them enough when they were alive to bend every effort to avoid sending them to that war in the first place.
    Bill of Sale, indeed!
