WHICH WITCH

WHICH WITCH

Here’s the scenario: I was seventeen and “going steady” with this knock-out gorgeous girl, Greta Zimmer. Trouble was, I had steadily gotten bored with our relationship. I wanted out something terrible. I just could not figure out a way to end it. After all, we’d been seeing each other exclusively for six weeks.

We had a big date at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida. We were eager to see the huge ginger bread house, constructed in the lobby of the hotel.

The house was, of course, constructed of real ginger bread, decorated with candy, confections and other sweet treats.

Then it hit me – a way out of the relationship! The house brought back memories of an identical house featured in one of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, that of “Hansel and Gretel”. Just as the pair escaped from the wicked witch, I would make my escape from our soured relationship.

But wonder of wonders, my mind snapped. Maybe it was the luxurious hotel, maybe the ginger bread house, maybe the holiday season. I’ll never know. I suddenly saw Gretel in a much different light. I no longer wanted to break up with her!

From that day forward, my life became. A fantasy. Greta and I continued to see each other. We eventually married, had two great kids, a lovely home in the suburbs and a very comfy middle-class life.

But, me being me, I again grew very tired of Gretel and our two kids who looked very much like her. Again, I just wanted out! So, I filed for divorce, gave her the house and the kids and happily made my escape from that wicked witch!

I learned about that gingerbread house on the news and it’s fun to have you use it for your story! The twist on Hansel and Gretel was a good one and very fitting for a Grimm Fairy Tale!!

The aroma of the ginger bread cookie house is to blame! That heathen Greta, seducing you in that way!
I didn’t see the marriage “crumbling” (pardon the pun) and was holding out hope….

Well, a ‘grim’ fairy tale, for sure! As I finished reading, I found myself wondering how Gretel might respond to the eventual break-up, so you definitely drew me in.
