I Fought the Law and the law Won

During the years twixt twelve and twenty the sox hops appeared at least once a week in the small towns of my youth.

The disk jockey spun the 45 rpm records for fours straight with the latest teen tunes and topics.

Elvis was of course the king and many others starred on a regular basis.

“When I Fall in Love” by several artists was one of my favorites. Truly falling in love was a “forever thing”. Can true love, rather than short term fascination, really end. If it can, was it real at the outset?

But, as a teenager me and most of my friends played close to the fringe of the law. All offenses were victimless crimes, of course. I didn’t hang around with thugs or thieves.

Several kids got caught doing stupid things and their public ridicule was an effective lesson and deterrent to legal transgressions.

It was personified in the immortal song, I fought the law and the law won.

  2. As the relative of several police officers and many military men, I always appreciate your stories about your work. When are you going to put them into a book??????
