tropical winds blow
forcing fronds horizontal,
taxing the tree’s strength

rains pound the terrain
forming puddles and channels
cleaning, nourishing

storm clouds dissipate;
creatures emerge from shelters
getting on with life

sunlight reappears
dry heat performs its magic-
evaporation
