Haiku: The Jersey Shore

Memories of the Jersey Shore

Crashing waves pound sand

Salty water washes the beach

Then quickly retreats

Beware the undertow

Pulling, dragging, suctioning

All within its path

Large umbrellas cast

Shady respite from the sun

Sunbathers decline

Fins cut through the surf

Warning all who wish to swim

Danger lurks out there

Growling stomachs urge

Sandy feet to the boardwalk

Waffles and ice cream!!

Skin aflame, eyes red

Exhausting day at the shore

Can’t wait to return…
